The Economist has a story titled Meritocracy in America that asks "Whatever happened to the belief that any American could get to the top?"
This is a central issue for me, since it's been a real focus for me, a dream in many ways, to help capable workers to climb their way out of dead-end careers and into software development. swdev.org is an artifact of that effort.
